It is possible that the reason Speech-Over is not showing on the menu is that PowerPoint 2007 has disabled the Speech-Over add-in.

The add-in needs to be enabled. The following procedure may help:

The procedure is located at: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms268871.aspx

There are actually two alternate procedures, depending on whether the add-in is soft or hard disabled. Please try each and see if one works.

Procedure 1. To re-enable an add-in that has been hard disabled by Excel 2007, PowerPoint 2007, or Word 2007
1. In the application, click the Microsoft Office Button .

2. Click the ApplicationName Options button.

3. In the categories pane, click Add-ins.

4. In the details pane, locate the add-in in the Disabled Application Add-ins list. The Name column specifies the name of the assembly, and the Location column specifies the full path of the application manifest.

5. In the Manage box, click Disabled Items, and then click Go.

6. Select the add-in and click Enable.

7. Click Close.

or

Procedure 2. To re-enable an add-in that has been soft disabled by Excel 2007, PowerPoint 2007, or Word 2007

1. In the application, click the Microsoft Office Button .

2. Click the ApplicationName Options button.

3. In the categories pane, click Add-ins.

4. In the details pane, locate the add-in in the Inactive Application Add-ins list. The Name column specifies the name of the assembly, and the Location column specifies the full path of the application manifest.

5. In the Manage box, click COM Add-ins, and then click Go.

6. In the COM Add-Ins dialog box, select the check box next to the disabled add-in.

7. Click OK.

Another reason that Speech-Over doesn't appear on the menu or ribbon is that your system is not allowing it to run for security reasons. Sometimes it will run with Administrator privileges only. Please consult your IT manager.

The Speech-Over add-in could have been disabled by PowerPoint 2007 or 2010.

To enable the Speech-Over add-in in either PowerPoint 2007 or 2010 follow the instructions for enabling Articulate Presenter in the link

http://www.articulate.com/support/prese ... kb/?p=1060

this link also has a video. Both Articulate and Speech-Over can be disabled by the PowerPoint Trust Center.

There are several possible reasons why Speech-Over doesn't appear on the ribbon:

1. Speech-Over will only run on Office 2010 if it is installed in its 32-bit version
Check for this as follows: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/24259/be ... fice-2010/

2. You can reinstall as a 32-bit version as follows: http://www.mydigitallife.info/how-to-do ... to-32-bit/

3. If it still doesn't appear, PowerPoint could have disabled the Speech-Over add-in - see other entry in this topic for details

4. Speech-Over does not usually work with Office 2010 on an Windows XP operating system. It is happier with Windows 7.

5. Administrative Privileges sometimes needed.

6. PowerPoint trust center

7. error 2389 is solved by giving admin privileges and/or downloading file to different location and installing again.

It is possible that Speech-Over has been disabled by the Data Execution Prevention (DEP). This is a trust option of Office 2010 which can identify and prevent an add-in from loading. It will also change the Load Behavior to the no-load value.

See http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/powe ... 55761.aspx

To fix this proceed as follows:

In PowerPoint disable the DEP as instructed in the above article

Office 2010
1.Click the File tab.
2.Under Help, click Options.
3.Click Trust Center, and then click Trust Center Settings.
4.In the Trust Center, click Protected View.
5.Under Data Execution Prevention, check or uncheck the Enable Data Execution Prevention mode box.
6. Exit PowerPoint

7. In the Registry (Start/RegEdit) change Load Behavior from 2 to 3 as follows:
(the path is at the bottom)

8. Restart PowerPoint

When checking the Com Add-ins disabled add-ins, the Speech-Over add-in (PowerPointAdd-in) add-in shows the message

Load Behavior: Not loaded. A run-time error occurred during the loading of the COM add-in.

Here is a good starting link for this problem http://social.technet.microsoft.com/For ... forum=word

Here are some steps you can take to fix the problem.

1. To get a display that shows why the add-in is not loading you need to enable VSTO error / display alerts.

See http://www.scinaptic.com/support/0053.html for details

2. Hard disabled add-ins

If an add-in causes the Office application to crash (close unexpectedly), the add-in gets “hard disabled”. Please follow this instruction to re-enable the add-in.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms268871.aspx

3. In addition, check the “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Excel\Resiliency\DisabledItems” (replace 12.0 with 11.0 for Office 2003 and with 14.0 for Office 2010). Your add-in should not have an entry under this registry key.

See http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb386106.aspx

4. You can run VSTO Troubleshooter PowerShell script. See http://archive.msdn.microsoft.com/vstotroubleshooter

5. Install the add-in For the "current user only"

6. Registry Key: Manifest
REG_SZ

You must add the prefix file:/// to the manifest path. You must also append the string |vstolocal (that is, the pipe character | followed by vstolocal) to the end of this path. This ensures that your solution is loaded from the installation folder, rather than the ClickOnce cache.

See http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb386106.aspx
